Frequently asked questions

Who are you?

Hi, I'm Steve. I grew up in Enniskillen, before studying marketing and starting my career in Newcastle upon Tyne. In 2015 I moved back home and am now lucky enough to be raising my own children here, surrounded by abundant nature and nostalgia.

Why did you start Odd Body Design Company?

I've worked in marketing and e-commerce for years and have always been interested in illustration and dabbled in design, so decided that I would take what I've learned and what I enjoy to start an online business of my own.

Why is it called Odd Body Design?

We used to have a dog called Clarence who was named after the guardian angel from the movie It's a Wonderful Life, Clarence Odbody. Our Clarence was a labradoodle and used to lie in lots of awkward positions so we thought 'Odd Body' was more appropriate for him. The 'ringing bell' aspect of the logo is also a reference to "every time a bell rings, and angel gets it wings" from the same movie.

What's the story behind your designs?

My ideas and designs are mainly influenced by growing up and living in Enniskillen and Fermanagh. My aim is to create clothing that celebrates elements of life by Lough Erne, that people with an affinity for this place will want to wear.

Why only two school in the Back to School collection?

The two schools celebrated in the Back to School collection no longer, exist with this year marking 10 years since they were amalgamated to form a new institution. This means it's no longer possible for past pupils to acquire items from the schools directly, which isn't the case for other operational schools with existing apparel suppliers.

Where do your products come from?

All of my products are currently provided by my print-on-demand partner Inkthreadable. Their production facility is based in the UK and they have a strong focus on sustainability using plastic-free packaging and toxic-free ink amongst other eco-friendly initiatives like carbon offsetting.

Why do you use print on demand?

I chose to start with print-on-demand to gauge demand for certain products, styles and sizes and help reduce any wastage in the process. I also wanted to offer organic cotton products where possible and Inkthreadable's range accommodates this.

Why do you not accept returns?

Unfortunately due to the nature of print-on-demand where each product is made to order, it's not possible to return products for a different size as the original ordered item cannot enter back into the system. However I can offer returns and refunds where the product is faulty and will do my best to provide a solution if you are unhappy with your order.

Are you open to collaborating?

Yes absolutely, if you have a business or an event that you would like to discuss working together on to create designs and products either for a one-off production run or to sell ongoing then please get in touch.
